Student's Name: Seong Yeon (Luna)
Teacher’s Name: Khris
Book's name: Let’s Go 2 Textbook
Pages: Pages 2-24 (pages covered for the month of June)
Luna is a happy student who takes classes with great enthusiasm. She is active in class most of the time and tries to apply her learning through tasks. She likes showing her stuff and despite limitations in vocabulary, she has the eagerness and courage to speak with the teacher in actual conversations during class. The confidence she shows is nothing short of impressive.
Luna's reading skill is at the Developing level. She can read simple words and phrases but may have challenges reading the longer, unfamiliar ones. It takes time for her to read some phrases and words though this is totally understandable because she is still young and developing this skill. With the rate she is at right now in terms of reading, she has the potential to be so much better at it after a few months of attending classes.
Luna's listening comprehension skill is observed to be at the Approaching Proficiency level. She can understand quite well through listening, reason she can confidently exchange thoughts with the teacher during class conversations. Reading comprehension is also at the same level for she can understand the lessons easily through reading though repetition is necessary for a better information retention.
SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION:
Luna's speaking and pronunciation skills are at Approaching Proficiency for her age. She speaks clearly and with a modulated voice that makes one want to hear her talk. Also, her speech is understandable because the accent is neutral, just like her sister Lucy's. With consistent practice and introduction to more English vocabulary and phrases, she can be better at these skills in a much shorter time than expected.
Luna is encouraged to watch American movies and TV shows (e.g. cartoons, animations, Disney movies) to know more English vocabulary and phrases that can be used in everyday conversations. She can also read short stories like fables in her free time to take her other skills such as pronunciation and reading comprehension to a higher level.
The teacher will continue to have more small talks with Luna during classes to make sure she can put into practice the things she learns in class. This way, she can become more confident and skillful when communicating with others in English. The goal is for her to get more fluent every time she attends class.
