Student’s Name: Ji Yea
Teacher’s Name: Khris
Book's name: BSE 1
Pages: Pages 12-46 (pages covered for the month of June)
Ji Yea is gradually developing confidence in class. She almost did not want to speak during the first few classes but is slowly opening up. She has the tendency to get nervous very fast when she is intimidated about the new information being introduced in class. She needs a lot of encouragement from the teacher to keep going. Despite the challenges, she is very hardworking and really does her best to follow the teacher's instructions and understand the lesson.
Ji Yea's reading ability is at the Developing stage. Though she can read some words and phrases, she still needs a lot of guidance in terms of this skill development. Her shy personality sometimes affects her ability. It was observed in some classes that she seems to know how to read but was just too shy to say the words.
Ji Yea's comprehension is at the Beginning phase. It is still quite a struggle for her to understand what she listens to and reads. Several repetitions are necessary to help her remember the information. When she cannot remember or understand, she keeps quiet and starts becoming uneasy. She will become more confident and relaxed in this area after some time of vocabulary introduction. She just really needs more time to process the new information.
SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION:
Ji Yea is still at the Beginning Phrase in terms of speaking and pronunciation. She needs to be walked through very carefully on each of the words and phrases introduced in her lessons. She can read some words but needs to work on the pronunciation. She has a likelihood to say interchange the F and P sounds. Some examples of words she mispronounced with these sounds are "picture" and "carpet" where she used the F sound for the letter Ps.
The teacher encourages Ji Yea to believe more in herself and try not to be so nervous. She has to relax so she can learn more easily. In the previous few classes, she was observed to be moving a lot which can be an indication of how uneasy she becomes during classes. It is also recommended for her to study the lessons discussed in classes so she can remember the basic words for vocabulary development.
The teacher will continue to introduce Ji Yea to basic conversations in class to develop not only her skills but also her confidence. With consistent practice, she can be less and less nervous. She will be provided with utmost guidance and encouragement to bring out her potential.
