Mr. Lee is a respectful and diligent student. He never forgets to greet me before and after the class. He does his best to perform well in class and submits homework on time like daily journal. Also, he is attentive in class and shows eagerness to learn English.
Mr. Lee’s comprehension can be considered as Developing. He can grasp the lesson easily, but sometimes, the teacher needs to repeat the instruction thrice or rephrase the instruction for him to understand it. He still needs guidance since he has limited vocabulary that’s why it’s hard for him to deal it. The best thing about him is that if he finds the lesson confusing, he really asks the teacher about it. It’s challenging but it’s manageable.
Mr. Lee reads every word carefully as possible. The only thing that needs for him to improve is to read the cluster or the blending sounds. His reading speed is in the average level. Overall, he shows his interest to learn that’s why it’s not hard for me to teach him.
SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION:
Mr. Lee’s speaking and pronunciation skills can be considered as Approaching Proficiency. We always have speaking drills every day like frequently used questions or expressions. With that, he was able to learn how to formulate questions and answers independently with few guidance. However, he needs to improve his pronunciation skills especially in dealing with r, l, ph, b, f, th, etc. sounds.
RECOMMENDATION AND SUGGESTIONS:
I would consider Mr. Lee’s overall evaluation as Developing Proficiency. He is above basic, but he still needs proper guidance and assistance. I advised him to watch English movies so he can improve his listening and speaking skills, practice reading books to improve his comprehension skills, and converse using English to his co-workers to improve speaking skills.
Our goal is to improve the four important skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking every month. We will practice every day so that he will boost his confidence level and be competent enough to speak with Native English speakers. I know this is possible because he is showing interest to learn English.
