Mrs. Lim is a charming, respectful and diligent student. She never forgets to greet the teacher before and after the class. She is always asking how I am doing and my whereabouts. With that she shows respect to the teacher. Also, she has a very soft voice and shows positive trait during the class. She never complains ever though she finds difficulty in the lesson.
Mrs. Lim’s comprehension level can be considered as developing. This is a very challenging part for her since she has limited vocabularies and basic level in her listening skills. She can answer random questions, but she has problems in following the instructions. It’s either she forget it or doesn’t understand it. She doesn’t complain, but as teacher, you will really know that she doesn’t understand it because of her reaction.
Mrs. Lim’s reading speed is average. She tries to read it clearly, slowly and carefully to avoid mistakes. However, she still needs to improve reading with silent sounds and blending. The best thing about her is that she never stops learning until she gets it perfectly.
SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION:
Mrs. Lim’s Speaking and Pronunciation skills can be considered as Developing Proficiency. She can ask and answer random questions, but she needs to improve her pronunciation and to construct a sentence. Sometimes, the teacher needs to guide her on how to start her sentence. Also, she needs to improve his pronunciation skills especially in dealing with r, l, ph, b, f, th, etc. sounds.
RECOMMENDATION AND SUGGESTIONS:
Since Mrs. Lim is still at the Developing Proficiency, I already advised her to never give up. I know it’s hard, but there’s no harm in trying. She needs to remember and apply what she has learned in the class to master the four skills. She needs to converse more in English to other people.
FUTURE GOALS:Our goal is to improve the four important skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking every month. Just like what I did to my starter student, we will practice the drills every day to improve and master the skills. As a teacher, I need to encourage and guide her to boost her self confidence.
