ATTITUDE:

Marie is a nice and charming student. She spoke softly and greeted the teacher warmly with a smile every start of the class. She was very attentive to the class and discussions. She was also receptive to corrections and was very patient even when asked to repeat mispronounced words and sentences. With these noted positive traits, Marie will surely advance to higher levels of Proficiency with proper guidance and constant practice.

COMPREHENSION:

Marie’s comprehension skills may fall under the Approaching Proficiency level. She was able to converse well with the teacher and answer her questions. She also followed instructions in the book easily as well as the teacher’s instructions with minimal further explanation. To enrich her comprehension skills, Marie may be exposed to age appropriate English materials such as books and videos with subtitle. She may also

READING:

Marie accurately read words and sentences. She also read in a clear and careful manner. In addition, Marie seemed to have understood most sentences and paragraphs she had read. However, there are still some words that Marie mispronounced, mostly unfamiliar words.  Marie also had to work on putting the proper intonation and stresses on the sentences she was reading, for she had the tendency to read monotonously. The good thing about Marie is that, with her comprehension, she can easily be instructed to re-read lines and correct mispronounced words. With these noted observations, it can be said that Marie is already in the Approaching Proficiency level when it comes to reading. With more practice, Marie will surely progress to a higher level.

SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION:

Marie has a very nice speaking voice. She spoke softly and carefully in expressing her thoughts and reading. In addition, she is starting to develop a neutral accent which means, her Korean accent when speaking English is becoming less evident. To further improve her speaking and pronunciation skills, she may practice imitating English speakers in videos. She may also listen to more English songs and take note of lyrics and practice reading those with accent.

RECOMMENDATION/COMMENTS:

It was a joy teaching and talking to Marie. She is very pleasant to converse with. She also exhibited a positive learning attitude towards the language. The teacher then recommends Marie to continue learning and gathering more English resources. She should also expose herself to more English videos and movies and take note of how the characters speak their lines and pronounce words. She should also try reading English novels and magazines to further enhance her interest in speaking the language.

FUTURE GOALS:

In the coming meetings, Marie will still be encouraged to speak more through thought-provoking questions at the start of the class. Furthermore, the teacher will introduce unfamiliar terms during their free talking time and random discussions. They will also review grammar rules and watch educational videos as part of their supplementary activities. Way to go Marie! Great job! J
